Golden Week Highlights

Golden Week launched with a grand presentation of Dreams of a Nation.
Introductions were made by Simon Lurie (Chair), greeting VIP guests that included, The Mayors of Bournemouth, and Poole, the Chair of  the BCP Council, Representatives from Chabad, Sephardi and Bournemouth Reform Communities, along with our very own Rabbi and Rebbetzin Jesner and all our many guests.

Dreams of a Nation took us on a journey from the Patriarchs of the Bible through to the present day State of Israel, through Music, Video, Song and Narration.

Rabbi Andrew Shaw narrated as Chassan, Johnny Turgel sang traditional and contemporary songs to take us on the journey of tears and triumph.

Accompanied by their own accomplished musicians and staged in our magnificent Synagogue.
Audience participation was inevitable as all sang along.

“I cannot thank you enough for inviting me to the most uplifting evening of Dreams of a Nation! Not only the warm narration of Rabbi Shaw, and the truly beautiful voice of Cantor Turgel, but the picturing of the history – the whole evening was wonderful. Despite thinking I knew my Old Testament, and the recent history (being the same age as the State of Israel!) I came away having learned a lot, and with plenty to think about.”
